Our History

The start of Grace Baptist Church is an act of faith from start to finish.

Grace Baptist began in the heart of Lead Pastor, Scott Blue, in the Fall of 1995 at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. God began to convict Scott of the evangelistic benefits of church planting and of the possibility of starting a church in Laurinburg, North Carolina to reach those not currently actively attending a church. In 2007, through much prayer, counsel, reading, investigation, and further assessment and training, Scott came to the conclusion that starting Grace Baptist Church was God's will.

Stewartsville Baptist Church of Laurinburg and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina sponsored Grace Baptist in September 2007. Two months later, on November 25, 2007, Grace Baptist Church met for the first time in the home of one of its Planting Team Members. Twenty-five people attended its first service. The church moved into its current storefront location in the College Plaza Shopping Center in December 2007 and began its program of reaching out to the people of Laurinburg. On April 27, 2008, we held our "Grand Opening" Service with 122 in attendance! Grace Baptist looks forward to seeing what great things God has in store as He works in and through us to touch the lives of others for His glory.

If you want to be part of church that deeply cares about reaching the unchurched with the Good News of Jesus Christ, wants to make a positive impact upon Laurinburg and the world for God's glory, is open to "doing church" in a new and exciting way, and is willing to "attempt Great things for God and expect great things from God," Grace Baptist may be just the church for you!
